Signs You Need to Have Your Teeth Cleaned
It is important to see your dentist when they tell you they want to see you next. They will give you a date for your next visit because this is how long they feel you can go between visits while still maintaining healthy teeth. If your dentist tells you they want to see you again in six months and you show up for your next visit in three years, then a lot of damage can happen to your teeth in that period, and instead of a regular exam, they may end up setting you up for fillings or even tooth extractions.
Another thing you should realize is even if your dentist does tell you they want to see you in a certain amount of months, you can go in early if you feel you have reasons for concern. Being proactive is the best way to ensure your teeth stay healthy. One of the things you want to do is make sure you go in for a professional cleaning any time you see signs that your own routine dental care isn't enough. Here are some of the signs that it may be time for you to go directly to the dental office for a good cleaning.
You have bad breath
If you notice people moving away from your face when you talk, you may have a breath issue. Also, you may be able to taste that your breath isn't very pleasant. If you have a sour or otherwise foul taste in your mouth, you can try increasing the frequency of your toothbrushing sessions and switch to a stronger mouthwash. However, if you can't seem to get rid of the bad breath on your own, then you want to schedule a professional cleaning with your dentist's office.
You see your teeth getting darker or changing to another color
You may be used to looking in the mirror at a pretty nice smile. If you start to notice that when you look in the mirror your teeth are beginning to look like they are a darker shade or even if you can see some staining on them, then you want to get in and have them cleaned while doing so can still keep them looking good.
You see plaque and tartar on them
If you see that you are getting buildup on your teeth, then it is very important for you to go in for a dental cleaning. The dentist will scrape off the buildup and give you a good cleaning to get rid of all that before it permanently damages your teeth.
